New Property Manager Elected
On Saturday, April 30, Jim Ljunglin '57 was elected to replace Michael Bruce '08 as the Elder Property Manager. Mike would like to thank the chapter for giving him the opportunity to serve as Property Manager from 2008 to 2011. He also wants to thank Jay Webb '61 for his past and continued service as Project Manager. Jay's efforts and expertise are invaluable and we all hope he continues to work his magic. We have several large items looming over the horizon, including bathroom renovations, flat roof replacement, vinyl siding, basement renovations, and sprinklers. We believe that we can complete either the bathroom renovations or the vinyl siding in FY13 (i.e. Summer 2012), which will go along with the expected completion of the wing electrical upgrades. Mike believes it is important for Jim to complete three tasks before August 2011:
Find a dependable, timely, and trustworthy "handyman." A good handyman is one that will be able to fix leaks, holes, and other small items for a fraction of the cost of our larger vendors. This person should also be proactive in visiting the house periodically and fixing things with minimal input from us or the Actives. We had one for a time, but he became complacent after the honeymoon period ended, and we had to let him go.
Find a reasonably priced cleaning company that will clean the kitchen and bathrooms periodically. Even though we don't want them to come on standard intervals, it would be useful to have someone on standby to do work for us within a reasonable time frame. Jay has already done a lot of research on this front, so this might already be done.
Have an architect and/or interior designer to give us a plan for the basement. Even if it is not acted upon for a year or two, it will allow us to show a real plan to the Actives and our bigger donors for inspiration.
Of course, the chapter is in desperate need of young blood. If anyone is interested in helping Jim out and eventually succeeding him, please contact the Property Committee.
Snyder Concludes Great First Season
Lost in the Alumni Weekend shuffle was the news that our very own Andrew Snyder '12 was competing in the Liberty League Men's Tennis Tournament on April 30. RPI finished 6th in the tournament, yet Andrew availed himself well, as he represented the school in two matches and finished with a 7-7 record in his rookie season. We are very proud of his success!
Easy To View Calendar Posted!
WordPress recently allowed us to embed Google Docs and Calendars directly into our posts. Our first effort is the calendar. Check it out here: http://blog.pizetes.org/calendar/

April Actives' Treasury Report Now Posted
The Gamma has published last month's report, which can be found here. Please contact him with questions.
April Financial Reports Now Posted
Directors can access them here. No accounts receivable report was run because the timing of several deposits makes the report meaningless. However, every Active brother on campus during 2010/2011 has paid 100% of their dues as of May 4. Many snaps to the Actives for this.
Please direct questions to Michael Bruce.

Elders Defeat Actives
The Elders defeated the Actives 4-3 in a heated soccer match on Saturday afternoon in Troy, NY. The Actives peppered the overconfident and unprepared Elders early, but Elder goaltender Eric Anderson '10 made several key stops to keep it scoreless. The Actives finally broke through on the back of Edward Reis '12, who beat Eric at the left post to make it 1-0 Actives.
A controversial handball call on Mario Iacuone '13 set up Michael Bruce '08 with a free kick from about 25 yards out. The Actives set up an effective wall, but neglected to mark Matthew Zepernick '06 on the left flank. Michael deftly slid a pass onto Matt's right boot, which knotted the affair at 1-1.
Kyle Gleken's strike from 13 yards out beat Eric again to make it 2-1. However, the score was quickly tied again after Adam Cottrell '07 floated one over Active goaltender Michael Cipollone '11 from about 30 yards out.
The Elders finally took the lead on the back of Michael Bruce, who took advantage of a miscommunication in the Active defense and slotted one home from inside 5 yards. The game was again tied after Mario Iacuone potted one home after collecting the rebound from a Justin Persin '11 strike. Several good Elder chances by Devin Galvin '08 and Steve Thomas '10 were stopped by Mike Cipollone to preserve the tie.
Regulation time ended and the teams agreed to play Golden Goal. A mere three minutes into the extra period, Kyle Jurney '07 slid a pass across the goal area from the left sideline to Tim Rupp '10. Tim completed a spinning 180 heel-kick to secure the victory for the Elders. After a raucous celebration, the teams shook hands and posed for pictures. The pictures can be found here (most are up, the rest will be uploaded this evening).
Superlatives are as follows:
Most Valuable Player - Elder Tim Rupp '10 Most Valuable Rookie - Active Mario Iacuone '13 Unsung Hero - Elder Eric Anderson '10 Sportsmanship Award - Active Ed Reis '11 Most Surprising Ringer - Active Kyle Gleken '12 Biggest Fall from IFC Grace - Elder Kyle Jurney '07 Best Resemblance to a Horse when Running - Elder JP Devlin '08 Worst Dressed - Andrew Darst '11
Both teams would like to thank Tom Moberg '71 for refereeing the game and enduring the heckles of both benches and their supporters. We hope to see everyone in Troy for Alumni Weekend '12 and the much-anticipated rematch.
Financial Reports Will Be Delayed
The April financial reports (both the Elders' and Actives') will be delayed for a few days until the Alumni Weekend dust settles. Please contact Justin Persin or Michael Bruce with questions.
Alumni Weekend Recap!
Wow! What a weekend. There's way too much to write about in a single post, so we'll be posting numerous times throughout the week to recap our great reunion. While you wait for our crack team of authors to properly document the event, you can sate your appetite for memories by visiting Daniel D. Bruce Photography for exclusive pictures of the event. Dan was all over Troy this weekend and took hundreds of photos of you all. The best ones have been uploaded to his website for you to view and purchase if you'd like keepsakes.
